This led to considerable confusion on my part. I typically refrain from actions that I don’t fully believe in, and this was no different.

The A-Ha Moment

The turning point came when I encountered a "About Me" story that was both published by a reputable publication and was located behind a paywall. I remember thinking, "How could a publication feature something so unworthy? If I ever share my story, it should be freely accessible!"

But then, a realization struck me.

I hesitated for a year! This epiphany hit me only after I finally published my own story: it’s not just filler! Medium serves as a community platform. When you join a community, introducing yourself is essential! It's a way to spark interest. Engaging with fellow writers often leads them to check out your story.

The standard "About" section simply doesn't cut it. You miss out on valuable feedback, highlights, claps, and comments that a dedicated story can provide. Plus, monetarily speaking, my "About Me" story ranks among my top ten most read pieces!

While other stories may not garner the same level of ongoing interest without a little extra push, this one definitely does:
