Betting on the Succession Finale: Thrills and Speculations
Written on
Chapter 1: The Allure of Betting on Fiction
In Australia, there's a well-known saying that reflects the nation's love for wagering: Aussies will bet on anything, even the most trivial matters. So, it was no surprise when a friend reached out this week, asking who I was placing my bets on in the Succession Stakes.
The acclaimed HBO series Succession is nearing its conclusion after four gripping seasons. If I were to compile a list of my top ten TV shows, you could bet on two things: it would likely contain twenty entries, and Succession would definitely rank near the top. This final season has not disappointed, showcasing exceptional writing and outstanding performances. The only thing that could make it more exciting for me would be the opportunity to profit from the finale.
Enter the Succession Stakes: The Roy Rumble.
The concluding season has seen the passing of Logan Roy, the billionaire media mogul known for his colorful exclamations. (I’ve omitted a spoiler alert since it’s likely that anyone reading this is already familiar with the show and eagerly awaiting the finale. If I revealed too much…well, just tell me to “fuck off” in true Logan Roy fashion.) As boardroom battles ensue and a potential sale looms, the climax centers on the fate of Waystar Royco and which of the Roy offspring might ascend to the CEO position.
There are numerous possibilities, each with its own set of advantages and challenges. And now, you can place your bets. Which contender will you support?
One of Australia's leading sports betting agencies has launched a market where fans can wager on who they believe will ultimately claim the CEO title. I've been monitoring this betting market like a stock analyst, searching for trends and potential value bets.
Before the penultimate episode aired, Siobhan Roy was the frontrunner; however, she has since slipped to fourth place, while Kendall has surged to the top of the betting odds. Is there insider information at play? Could a disgruntled writer on strike have leaked a hint about Ken? Or is this just a baseless rumor? This uncertainty has been on my mind all week.
Video Title: SUCCESSION FINALE: Who Will Win? (Greg's Hidden Power Moves)
As the finale draws closer, viewers are left speculating on the outcome of the series. Will Greg Hirsch have the last word? This video explores the hidden moves and strategies at play in the final moments of the show.
Section 1.1: Who Will Get the Last Word?
As I mentioned, Australians love to gamble on just about anything, and this series is no exception. Fans can also place bets on the outcome of the Waystar-GoJo deal, choosing from three scenarios: GoJo acquiring Waystar, Waystar acquiring GoJo, or any other outcome (including a merger that doesn't occur).
However, what intrigues me more is betting on who will deliver the final line of the series. In a show filled with characters vying for the last word, you can even wager on who will utter the final phrase. Yes, even deceased characters are in the running for this bet. Could that be the hidden gem of the betting market?
Section 1.2: The Thrill of the Gamble
Kenny Rogers once offered the best gambling wisdom: "You gotta know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em." I typically lean towards the latter—I rarely partake in gambling. It was only a nudge from my friend that led me to a betting site.
To my surprise, in addition to wagering on Succession, there was a plethora of entertainment options available. You could bet on the box office earnings of The Little Mermaid’s opening weekend or speculate on which celebrity might guest star in the next season of The White Lotus—Danny DeVito currently leads the pack over Jamie Lee Curtis.
For some, betting on TV show outcomes enhances the thrill, akin to watching a sporting event. Yet for me, it takes away from the enjoyment. I prefer to watch without the anxiety of outcomes, hoping for one last memorable line from Greg Hirsch before the credits roll.
Chapter 2: The Emotional Farewell
It’s always bittersweet when a beloved series comes to an end. Often, it involves the loss of a key character or the realization that a story we've invested so much time in is concluding. I anticipate feeling a deep sense of loss when Succession wraps up, alongside the uncertainty of how to fill that void.
And yes, there might be tears if my bets don't pan out.
