Apple's Odd Treatment of the iPhone X: A Deep Dive

Written on

Chapter 1: The Significance of the iPhone X

It was only a matter of time before we encountered more news concerning the iPhone X. In my view, the iPhone X stands as one of the most pivotal models Apple has ever produced. Recently, I conducted a Twitter poll that revealed it is still regarded as one of the best iPhones by several thousand voters, indicating its ongoing popularity.

However, there's something puzzling going on with how Apple is treating this device. For instance, a few weeks ago, they announced an exciting new feature called "tap to pay," which allows for contactless payments without needing a third-party device. Yet, this functionality is available exclusively for the iPhone XS and later models, leaving the iPhone X out in the cold.

Additionally, Apple introduced a new repair capability for Face ID, enabling users to fix this feature without having to service the entire phone. Interestingly, the iPhone X is eligible for this repair option, which raises a question: why is it being excluded from other features? This situation doesn't make much sense to me. Personally, I have a fondness for the iPhone X; I believe it was ahead of its time. Still, the lack of access to certain features is bewildering.

In summary, while the iPhone X remains an exceptional device, its exclusion from some newer features is perplexing. What are your thoughts on this matter?
