Transformative Effects of Online Writing on Wellbeing

Chapter 1: The Ripple Effect of Writing
For over a year, my writing journey has been inconsistent. Despite this, I've noticed significant improvements in various aspects of my life!
This paragraph will result in an indented block of text, typically used for quoting other text.
Section 1.1: Breaking Free from Addictions
Through writing, I managed to overcome two major addictions: my phone and cigarettes. My screen time has dramatically decreased from over eight hours a day to less than two. As for smoking, after my first puff at 17, I recently reached a milestone of two smoke-free days, which is the longest I've gone without nicotine in a while.
But there's even more to my story.
My sleep quality has dramatically improved, going from a state of near-insomnia to achieving perfect sleep scores over the past few days. I've also gained approximately 5 kg of lean muscle by focusing on protein intake while incorporating more greens into my diet.
The results have been incredible—even with a heavier workload!
I work as a food delivery cyclist, increasing my hours from 20 to over 40 each week. What once caused back pain after just three hours is now manageable, as I can comfortably handle seven hours of work six days a week.
My energy levels, financial flexibility, creativity, and positive mindset have all surged to unexpected heights. But how does this relate to writing online, especially considering my inconsistent writing habits?
It’s straightforward.
Section 1.2: Mastering the Basics
To achieve long-term success, mastering the fundamentals is essential. My struggle with consistent publishing stemmed from a weak foundation. I would manage to write for five consecutive days, only to fall off for ten.
I realized that sustaining a writing career demands more than what I was currently delivering. I had to elevate my personal growth to meet the demands of my aspirations.
The investment required to build a successful one-person business is substantial. You can’t succeed in the professional realm while neglecting the essentials. It took me a full year to grasp this truth and take action. I was trying to transform my poor habits by merely adding superficial improvements.
A flawed foundation will remain flawed, no matter how many embellishments you add.
Let’s face it; there are approximately 200,000 writers vying for success. To thrive, you need to be among the top 1%, which translates to the top 2,000 writers. The majority—around 60-80%—are in a similar position to mine. If you publish daily, you can easily catch up with their entire catalog in a matter of months.
However, breaking into the top 10% requires a different level of commitment and excellence. It’s not for everyone, but the rewards are truly remarkable.
Chapter 2: The Power of Small Changes
Consider attempting to enhance your sleep quality. You buy an eye mask and try it out, only to wake up uncertain about its effectiveness. Frustrated, you abandon the mask and search for another solution, ultimately declaring sleep hacks as gimmicks on a forum.
But this isn’t how change works. Significant improvements come from a series of small, cumulative adjustments over time.
In reality, each modification may yield only a 1-5% improvement, which can be difficult to quantify. My own journey included adding blue light-blocking glasses, a weighted blanket, sleep patches, and a high-quality massage chair. Only after incorporating all these elements did I notice a significant enhancement in my sleep.
The synergy created by these small adjustments led to remarkable results. My sleep score, previously hovering around 65%, has now reached 100% and consistently stays within the 95% range.
The process of compounding these improvements is ongoing. Over time, I will make countless crucial decisions with a refreshed and alert mind, guiding me toward success.
I've gained an extra hour each morning by eliminating phone use and sleeping better, which I now dedicate to exercise. This routine brings about better sleep and increased energy throughout the day.
The same principle applies to writing and any long-term endeavor.
You may not immediately perceive the impact of quitting smoking on your writing, but maintaining a healthy lifestyle can grant you years of productivity as your peers fall behind.
With enough time and continuous self-improvement, you will inevitably outshine others.
It’s not just individual efforts that lead to outstanding outcomes; it’s the synergy produced by the collective impact of small changes.
Over time, whether intentional or not, the positive habits we cultivate outside of writing will inevitably seep into our written work.
