Chapter 1: Exploring Your Journey
My Dearest Friend,
Where did you start your journey? How far have you traveled since then? Are you constantly pushing beyond your current limits? As you reflect on your past, what sacrifices have you made to reach the present? Most importantly, do you still possess the values and character you developed while under your parents' care in their nurturing home?
Is your current abode, far removed from your family's influence, the right foundation for the character they helped you cultivate? Have you grown into a leader, a follower, or perhaps lost your way? Are you feeling downcast or despondent?
Do you have clarity on these matters? Are the answers easy to confront, or do they bring discomfort?
How many strands of hair grace your head? Do your eyes ache from staring at screens late into the night? Do you enjoy your work, or do you dread your role within your team? Are you the one who is never worried about being sidelined? Do you feel invisible, or are you confident in your presence? How safe do you feel in your environment? How do you make your loved ones feel?
Do racing thoughts of approval fill your mind before sleep, or is it a moment of tranquility before chaos? Is it a state of anxiety or peacefulness?
Are you striving to make a difference, or do you feel adrift, as if lost at sea?
Do you have a passion for music? Have you discovered any new tunes recently, or do you find solace in the classics? Do you still have the time and energy to appreciate music as if it were essential to your very being? Does it still move you, sending shivers down your spine?
What indulgences do you allow yourself that bring joy, despite being beyond your budget? What expenses do you easily bear yet find no joy in? What truly brings you happiness?
Are you able to answer these questions promptly?
Where are your friends? Are you measuring yourself against them, feeling inadequate? Or do you believe you have gained respect in their eyes? What conversations do you have during your interactions? Are they filled with joy, or do you find yourselves complaining about life’s challenges?
Do you feel a sense of identity, a brand that represents who you are? How do you perceive yourself?
At work, do your colleagues enjoy your company? Do they provide constructive feedback? Do they speak positively about you when you’re not around? Do those who matter confide in you?
Do they guide you on how to navigate various situations, or do they give you the space to be yourself? Have they entrusted you with responsibilities? Do they value your insights?
How do you feel about your professional self?
How connected are you to your roots? Have you cultivated a mindset that accepts your younger self? Is your vision for life aligned with traditional values, or have you embraced modern ideals? Are you still searching for direction, hesitant to step out into the world?
Where are you at this moment?
What would you say to your younger self if they stood before you? Would you shy away, or would you embrace the encounter? Are you apprehensive about your past self or your current self? Do you create your own happiness? Will you be happier five, ten, or fifteen years from now? Healthier?
What physical activities do you engage in now? Do you relish them, or do they feel like a chore tied to nostalgic memories? How fit do you feel? Is your physical age reflective of your actual age, or do you feel younger or older? Can you still perform those moves that once came effortlessly to you? Where has that joy gone? Is it still within you, waiting to be reignited?
Can you revive that version of yourself?
How close were you to your parents? Were you their pride and joy? How is that relationship now? Do you roll out the red carpet for them? Do they cherish seeing you happy? And do you feel the same joy when you see them smile?
Do you regard them as the most vital connection in your life, the thread you must always hold onto?
Has anyone ever told you that you alone control your destiny? Or do you believe it’s too late to change anything, feeling defeated? Do you wake up each morning with enthusiasm, ready to embrace life? Is there a spark of curiosity within you? Are you carrying unresolved heartaches, or have you learned to heal from past pains? What is your perspective on life, my friend?
Do you believe that challenges have strengthened you? Or do you merely endure daily struggles, waiting for time to pass? Are you someone who fights through adversity, or have you surrendered?
Do you find peace after the chaos, or are you overwhelmed by the relentless pace of life, feeling isolated without any support?
Who are you now, my friend? Where do you stand?
I realize I haven't concealed my thoughts well under the guise of writing to a friend. This is my truth.
I have nowhere to hide—I must seek myself, even if it’s reflected in the rearview mirror of my life. I need to confront these questions for my own sake. Today or tomorrow, whenever I can articulate my feelings.
I hope, dear reader, that you have answers to most, if not all, of these questions—and that those answers bring you joy.
