Exploring the Truth: Aristarchus, Absalom, and The Unconscious Church

Written on

Chapter 1: The Awakening

As the congregation gathers, Reverend Amos opens his Bible, clears his throat, and begins to read, guiding the masses with his interpretations.

“Genesis 1:14 ESV

And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years.”

In the back pew, Absalom observes the scene unfold.

Absalom, a light worker sent by The Most High, is determined to challenge the misconceptions propagated by his father, Reverend Amos, at The Unconscious Church. Frustrated by the false teachings, he closes his eyes and channels the spirit of Aristarchus of Samos.

With a hushed voice, he interrupts the scripture reading.

“Actually, the Earth rotates on its axis and orbits the sun, which accounts for day and night. It’s not a divine declaration. Geometry can explain the distances to the moon and the sun. We should educate ourselves about Greek history.”

Before anyone realizes he has spoken, Absalom reverts back to his original self.

The congregation begins to murmur in surprise.

Angry at the interruption, Reverend Amos slams his Bible down on the podium.

“Who is disturbing God’s house with such disrespect?”

His intense gaze scans the congregation, but silence reigns.

In the front row, Annice, an elder, fans herself in shock and nods in agreement, her grey curls fluttering.

“Make it clear, pastor!” she urges.

In the meantime, two young individuals a few rows in front of Absalom engage in hushed conversation.

Andrew leans toward Brigitta, whispering, “Who was that talking about the sun?”

He scans the church but fails to spot anything unusual.

Shrugging, he returns to his Bible.

“What if he’s right? What if Pastor Amos is wrong?” Brigitta murmurs, flipping through her pink Bible.

Andrew scratches his head, recalling Mr. Burns, his science teacher, who encourages critical thinking and independent research.

With a sigh, he contemplates, “If no god spoke of the sun, then how did we come to know it? Who or what is behind it? Or was anything ever said?”

Reverend Amos readjusts his tie, struggling to gather his thoughts. He attempts to resume his sermon.

Absalom feels a sense of satisfaction, knowing he has planted seeds of doubt in Andrew and Brigitta’s minds.

The grip of mental chains is loosening for this new generation.

Moral of the story:

“Don’t accept everything you hear. You must assess the world through your own perspective.”

Chapter 2: The Challenge of Knowledge

In this chapter, we dive deeper into the philosophical debates surrounding science and religion.

The first video, "Aristarchus & His Crazy Idea," explores the revolutionary thoughts of Aristarchus on the heliocentric model of the universe, challenging traditional beliefs.

The second video, "Aristarchus of Samos," delves into the life and contributions of this ancient Greek astronomer, shedding light on his significance in the field of science.
