Chapter 1: Medium's Stance on AI Content
Medium has made it clear that they are serious about enforcing their guidelines regarding AI-generated content. If you thought their warnings were just for show, you might be in for a surprise.
Recently, Medium announced that they would be removing AI-generated articles from their paywall.

Just today, I came across an article written by one of my followers, Tyler Lubben, who found that Medium had taken down his content under the impression it was generated by AI. Naturally, Tyler reached out to Medium's support team, as he pays to utilize the platform for his writing.

The Medium support team responded to him, stating: “After further review, we have decided to restore your access to the Partner Program. To prevent future issues, please make sure to fully comply with Medium’s guidelines.”
This serves as a reminder that Medium is evolving and actively working to uphold its mission.

While many writers may be distracted by notifications and claps, Medium is diligently implementing their new measures to counter AI-generated content.

However, Tyler raises a valid point: the current detection systems are not infallible. I, too, have experienced similar issues. After crafting an article on my mobile Note App, I was surprised to find that the AI detection tool flagged it as potentially AI-generated.

This raises an unsettling question for writers: how can we be misidentified as AI? It appears that certain phrases or words commonly used in AI may inadvertently trigger these systems.

The situation is indeed troubling. The English language is intricate and nuanced, and the engineers who create these detection programs are also human, expressing similar emotions and thoughts as writers do.

We find ourselves in uncharted territory; never before have human writers had to validate the authenticity of their work in such a way.
Back in college, plagiarism checks were conducted using tools like Turnitin, but now we face a new question: Is your work crafted by a human or generated by AI? This is a fundamental inquiry for the platform's leadership, aimed at ensuring compliance with their regulations.
Despite these challenges, Medium remains an excellent platform for writers to display their talents and build their online presence.

To thrive here, it is crucial that we follow the platform's guidelines. Many of us who have been writing on Medium for an extended period are aware of the lengths the platform will go to uphold its integrity.
Chapter 2: The Future of Writing on Medium
