# Discovering Life in Minnesota: My Journey from College to Work

Chapter 1: My Background and Transition
Hello, I'm Jack! After recently completing college, I find myself navigating life in Minneapolis. I was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, but spent my formative years in Northern Virginia, just a short drive from Washington, D.C. After finishing high school in 2019, I initially enrolled at the College of William and Mary. However, I made the decision to transfer to the University of Virginia after my freshman year, influenced by a relationship at the time. Although that relationship ended, my experience at UVA was unforgettable, and I believe it to be one of the best institutions out there. Still, I would advise against making such a drastic change solely for a partner, especially when you're just starting college.
From an early age, I was drawn to the world of business, particularly finance. However, after being turned away from UVA's business program, I pivoted and chose to major in political science. It was through my political science courses that I uncovered a passion for writing and sharing my ideas with others.
To keep my career ambitions alive in the business sector, I focused heavily on my extracurricular activities and past internships, since my major didn't directly correlate. It wasn't until February 2023 that I secured a full-time position with U.S. Bank in a two-year program. I was thrilled yet a bit anxious, as this opportunity was located in Minneapolis, a city I had never set foot in before.
Section 1.1: Settling into Minneapolis
A year later, I can confidently say that I am truly enjoying my experience in Minnesota. I live with my cousin, who graduated from Wake Forest in 2022—just a year ahead of me. Our days are filled with work, playing video games (especially Wii Sports), and participating in various recreational soccer and volleyball leagues. Additionally, we've made new friends through work and other activities. Here are a few snapshots capturing our good times together:
